Principle 1: Know your Audience
Before you can create a Beyond experience for anyone, you have to know who you’re creating for. Everything you do in your prep will center around who your audience is. If you skip this step, the experience will not live up to the vision you had of it and your efforts in every other step may well be in vain.
Principle 2: Understand their Expectations
What does your audience expect from you in this situation? Lay that out. You have to know what you’re working with. Then exceed those expectations.
Principle 3: Create Anticipation
Get your audience excited about what you’re about to deliver to them. The more anticipation you can create, the more pleasant their experience once it comes time for that.
Principle 4: Set the Stage
In this step, you create the environment in which your experience will take place. This is about decisions for space, décor, entertainment, etc, and bringing that environment to life.
Principle 5: Show time!
The moment for your experience has finally arrived. The key to its success will most likely be a lot of practice. Don’t lead them all this way just to falter at the critical moment! This is what everyone has been waiting for! Deliver a beyond experience here.
Principle 6: Encore
Experiences don’t ever end when their time is up. They linger within us for some time, keeping their place in our mental and emotional memories, repeated topics of conversation. As the producer of a beyond experience, we cannot let the opportunity for staying present in the minds of our attendees slip away. So we continue with follow-up strategies.
